Sri Krupa Murali

Name : Sri Krupa Murali
Bust : 34
Waist : 25
Hips : 36
Height : 5' 7"
Titles won : Miss India Finalist, 1999

These are just some of the words of wisdom Sri Krupa Murali – Femina Miss India-International 99-2000 --- spouts through the following interview.

Friendly and intelligent, Sri Krupa Murali --- Femina Miss India-International 1999-2000 --- is typical of the new face of feminine glamour in India.

She knows exactly where she's headed, and has a life and dreams beyond being just another dream girl.

"Modelling has been my hobby and it always will be so," she says candidly.

Sri came into the haute scene after finishing second in the Gladrags 1998 contest in Mumbai.

After that, designers grabbed this ethereal-looking Bangalore girl for their ramp shows and she's also been doing a whole lot of print advertisements.

In  between, of course, came the Femina rendezvous when she outclassed many fancied contestants to figure in the top league.

Articulate yet simple and genuine, Sri Krupa worked her charm in the Q&A rounds. And being compared to a stunning twin of Karisma Kapoor's wasn't such a bad thing either.

The Femina feat took Sri Krupa to Tokyo to participate in the Miss International contest. Dressed in a Hemant Trevedi creation, she got noticed enough to pick up the Best Costume award for India.

"The Miss India experience taught me a lot," she reveals, "I learnt to believe in myself. There is Mission Difficult, certainly -- but no Mission Impossible! Everything in life can be achieved."

Indian Beauty:

Sri has the kind of looks that suit demure ethnic wear as well as very adventurous designer Westerns.

Her straight, slim figure and height make her look especially good in sleek Western silhouettes.

As far as personal preferences go, she likes dressing casual -- shorts, jeans and plain tops. Of course, she wears the regulation spaghetti-strapped cocktail dresses to dos that would have her ooze chic.

Businesswoman Too:

At present, Sri is studying at the Ohio-Manipal School of Business at Manipal, near Bangalore. She will travel to Michigan for the remaining semesters of the MBA program.

"After my MBA I want to start my own business over here. A good bit of work experience in the US will help a lot," she says.

Sri Krupa feels that modelling is not really a long-term career solution.

"Modelling's there as long as you are happening. After that, my suggestion is, take it up as a hobby, because you'll enjoy it. I guess it isn't a wise move to give up studies for modelling!"

Her ramp romps have done wonders for this "very quiet person" - as Sri describes herself!

She is now a more confident woman with a healthy level of self-esteem. She can also face huge crowds with composure and grace.

Supportive parents have given her a stable home and freedom to be. "I am very close to my family. I love them too much -- and also my cutie doggies!" she gushes.

She feels she was brought up with strong values, which has made her levelheaded, down-to-earth and able to take both success and failure in the right way.

"Failure is not failure but taking failure as failure is failure," she reasons.

As for herself, this young woman has a philosophy that she knows will always take her places

--"I believe that life's all about being happy with yourself and how you cope with your needs and desires. It all boils down to self-contentment -- if you are happy with yourself, you will be happy enough with life as well."
